Ron Paul

Ron Paul! Is he serious? Yes he is; is he right? In some cases yes he is. When we are talking about runaway spending and the potential harm, with which it threatens our nation, he is right on. But when Ron Paul starts talking about going back to using gold as our only medium of exchange, he is off the mark; it sounds good mind you.  Who would not love to go back to the good old days? Unfortunately we don’t live in an ideal world, and Paul followers, whom often become angry with those who disagree, are generally unrealistic and uninformed about the economy, the nation, and the world. Ron Paul wants to cut spending by a lot, and we should; that is the bright side of Ron Paul.

There is a scary side of Ron Paul that cannot and should not be overlooked. His social view on illegal drugs stirs up a lot of support from the pot smokers of our nation. Yes the law is probably skewed when it comes to the illegality of marijuana. Time has proven marijuana to be pretty benign and, it probably should not be a crime to grow, or possess, or smoke; if one so choses, but to legalize all drug use is extreme at best, and a truly dangerous policy. I do not use drugs nor do I smoke pot; however, I honestly don’t care if people choose to smoke marijuana in the personal quiet of their home, or even in a pot den sipping tea and listening to music. It is no more harmful than having a drink in a bar and is probably less of a social threat; however, I do see a problem with the idea that illegal drug use should be accepted and made legal. Ron Paul supporters argue that legalization will reduce use. That is simply wrong. The greater problem is that one who is high on drugs is a much greater social threat, and unlike the pot head, is more likely to cause accidental harm to others.

Another issue that is concerning is Ron Paul’s view of the world with his naïve belief in isolationism, and his desire to do away with the military. I feel it safe to say that those who foster the belief that American foreign policy is the cause of terrorism and the reason our enemies want to kill us, are naïve and lacking in their knowledge of history and world affairs. Perhaps before one blames the US of interfering in the world and causing wars without reason, one might sign up for a college course in Western Civilization. I know that it is quite cliché to suggest education and point out real facts when discussing the political beliefs of the American electorate, but it might be worth noting that the American electorate nominated John McCain in the last presidential election, then out did themselves with the election of Barak Husain Obama to the office of president over a country that he apparently holds pure contempt for. To say that Ron Paul is simply a nut case is being kind. In truth he is a serious danger and a threat to the success and security of the United States of America, and the world.

I will point out here that we haven’t even discussed Ron Paul’s newsletters.

In conclusion, I would like to make a point that history has proven time and again. Many believe that peace is the absence of war. That is not true. When dictators rule they do so without war. True peace can only be enjoyed by those who are strong enough to prevent its disruption and ready and willing to fight fiercely to keep it and defend it.

Romney

Mitt Romney!  Is he really the only guy who is electable?  Another case of holding ones’ nose while casting a vote.  Slow death being better than jumping off a cliff, I would be forced to vote for Romney if he ends up being the “Republican” (in name only) candidate.  But would I ever vote for him by choice?  No.

In my own view Mitt Romney is the head sheep leading the ovine in the current popular direction; wandering aimlessly over the path of least resistance. So far Romney’s primary objective during this campaign is to avoid saying or doing anything that might screw up his front position which the “Party” has declared; therefore, his strategy is to do or say nothing, or as little as possible. The things we have been able to hear him say imply that he will be a user friendly version of Barak Obama; giving us more of the same in Washington.

Born to the privileges of money, great looks, and nice hair, Mitt Romney is the perfect choice for the many who believe that a good looking president is what we need to lead us back to brighter days.  Architect of the model that Obamacare was fashioned after, Mitt Romney is not very likely to really get Obamacare repealed; after all, he thinks it is a good idea.  The tax code and the IRS, they are fine; they just need a little tweaking.  Romney has suggested 56 or so adjustments to the tax code; which, is a volume about 2 ½ feet thick; filled with tens of thousands of incoherent pages.  The IRS just added a swarm of people to its staff for the specific purpose of collecting taxes.  We need to reduce the spending in Washington; let’s start with the complete elimination of the IRS and the current tax system.

No more than a RINO in sheep’s clothing Mitt Romney will be a welcome addition to Washington as he has no intension to change the game there; he only wants to be permitted to play.  We are being told that he is the only electable guy.  I fear that those who don’t even know that they are not paying attention are parroting the senseless noise they hear from the media and the puppeteers of the progressive political ruling class.  By the way if you’re thinking that progressive sounds like a good thing, you might want to look it up in a history book.  Start around 1785 with the progressive movement building up to the first French Revolution and the century of chaos which followed.

Those who do not learn from history will be doomed to repeat it.
